Archie C. Brown, 96, of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away February 20, 2017, at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 29, 1921, in Letcher County, Kentucky to the late Arlie Lee and Virgie Craft Brown. Archie retired from Alcoa Aluminum after 20 years of service in the mechanical maintenance department. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Hall Street Baptist Church. He was also a member of #465 Masonic Lodge in Lucasville, Ohio, which he even helped construct the building. Archie was also a member of the Scottish Rite in Cincinnati, and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Kentucky Colonel. Archie was a pilot and loved flying his Cessna 172. He was a member of "The Hillbillies" camping club in Owensboro.
Archie was preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years, Lorena Snyder Brown; brothers, David M. Brown, Reverend Maynard Brown, and Arlie Lee Brown, Jr.; sisters, Amy Alexander, Gracie Evans, and Pricy Eley; and great-grandson, Maclin Wayne Conder.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy A. Brown, of Kingsport, TN; daughter, Charolette J. Conder, of Owensboro; brothers, Cecil Brown, of Owensboro, and Fred (Linda) Brown, of Evansville; grandchildren, Denise Conder, of Owensboro, Mark Conder, of San Antonio, TX, and Kim Barrett, of Kingsport, TN; great-grandchildren, Jessie Barrett, Nick Barrett, Caleb Conder, and Jacob Conder; a great-great-grandchild, Aiden Barrett; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be noon, Thursday, February 23, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 2:00pm to 6:00pm on Wednesday, and 11:00am Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
