Anthony "Tony" Whitaker Sr.

Anthony “Tony” Whitaker Sr., 69, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday August 9, 2025, at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on May 10, 1956, in Owensboro, to the late Albert and Audrey Askins Whitaker. Tony worked at Walmart as a stocker. He was a big NASCAR fan, dirt track racing, and working on cars also. Tony also enjoyed fishing, wrestling, watching the Dr. Phil show and FOXNEWS.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Askins.

Tony is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vanita Whitaker; a daughter, Donna (Mike) Bristow; his son, Tony (Kennedy) Whitaker Jr; grandchildren, Anthony “Brian” Hoffman and Anthony “Garet” Whitaker; and a great-grandson, Oliver Ray Whitaker.

The visitation for Anthony will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday August 14, 2025, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be at Chapel Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Butler County on Friday August 15, 2025, at 1 p.m.
