Anthony A. "Tony" Brown, Jr., 91, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Owensboro Center. He was born on December 15, 1922 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Anthony A. and Rebecca Merimee Brown, Sr. Tony was retired from Green River Steel as Personnel Director after 35 years. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He also was the youngest MSgt. in the Marines during World War II. He enjoyed golfing, playing poker, barbequing, and taking care of his cats. He had authored a book named "How To Land A Job" back in 1960's for high school graduates. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Scott Brown in 1988, a brother, George Wesley "Dub" Brown, and four sisters, Bettye Marie Hicks, Norma Jean Straney, Mary Anne Brown, and Dorothy Elizabeth Day.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Mary E. Roby "Liz" Brown, two daughters, Bettie Gray and husband Tony of Owensboro and Doris Turner of Louisville, two sons, Anthony A. "Tony" Brown III and wife Judi of Owensboro, and Randy M. Brown of Owensboro, grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn (Rodney) Aulick of Colorado Springs, CO, April Nicole (Roger) Hopkins of North Carolina, Jason Eric (Susan) Turner of Louisville, and Amber Michelle Wilson Evansville, IN, seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Barbara Miriam "Bobbie" Marcinkowski of Chester, IL and Nancy Louise Clark and husband Gene of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 3 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 8:30 A.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be 5:00 P.M. Thursday.
