Anselmine Reisz Bittel

Anselmine "Ann" Reisz Bittel, 95, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at her home. She was born September, 25, 1917, to the late Albert and Ruth Tong Reisz. Ann was a 1936 graduate of Daviess County High School. In September of 1938 she married Anthony "Tony" Bittel. Ann was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She loved flower and vegetable gardening and especially her strawberry business. In the 1970's Ann was very involved with the Council of Garden Clubs and served as President of the Home and Garden Club. Restoring her home and antique shopping were her favorite hobbies for many years. She and her husband Tony were charter members of Immaculate Catholic Church where she served on various church committees throughout the years and will be remembered for the hundreds of rosaries she made for others, particularly her "Jobs Tears" rosaries. Ann was also preceded in death by her husband Tony in 2002; her sisters, Ruth Hayden, Teresa Keller, Mildred Mischel, Dorothy Wethington and her brother Ed Reisz.

Survivors include four sons and their wives, Don and Bonnie Bittel, Gene and Mary Bittel, Hugh and Lisa Bittel, Tony and Paula Bittel, Jr.; one daughter and her husband, Joyce and Bruce Yeiser; 16 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren; four sisters and their husbands, Patty and Carl Riney, Mitzi and Bill Speer, Barbara Brown, Judy and Duvall Burk; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
