Annie Gipe Brown

Annie Gipe Brown, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at her home. She was born December 11, 1928 in Daviess County to the late Emmett and Sarah Lee Coons Gipe. Annie was retired from General Electric and had also worked as a supervisor and tax return preparer for H & R Block. She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and had taught both primary and adult classes including both the Class of Ruth and the Berean Sunday School classes. She was also a member of C.W.F. where she was a past president. Annie was a deacon and elder and was currently an Elder Emeritus. She had been a member of First Christian Church's Board, the church choir and had played the organ and piano for Sunday School classes. She was an avid U.K. basketball fan and enjoyed flower gardening and oil painting. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, David B. "D. B." Brown on March 14, 1995, a sister, Nancy Duncan, and two brothers, Robert Gipe and Emmett Carter Gipe, Jr.

Surviving are a daughter, Sarah Warren (Joseph "Jody") of Texas, their children, Joseph B. Warren II and his wife Gwynne, Elizabeth A. Brown and husband Eric Van, and Rebecca L. Terry and husband Clayton, and their grandchildren, Alexandria, Cameron, Joseph III, Payton, Regan, Connor, Faith, Hope, Grace, Hunter Van, Clint, and Virginia, six sons, David Brown (Brenda) of Virginia, their children, David Brown II and wife Christina, and Jeremy Brown, their grandchildren, Michaela, Tabitha, Tristen, Lucas, and Jaikob, son Mitchell Brown (Naomi) of Maceo, their child, Christopher Brown and wife Stacey, their grandchildren, Austin, Bryan, and Christian, son William Brown (Angie) of Alabama, their child, Errel Brown, their grandchild, Erik, son James Brown (Judy) of Virginia,their children, Jon Brown and wife Tiffany, Joy Weaver, , and Jessica Anzengruber and husband Clint, their grandchildren, Aubry, Laura, Tori, Brandon, Landon, and Riley, son Lee Brown (Karen) of Texas, their children, Tim Brown, Bryan Brown, Nikki Lopez, Matthew Haggard and wife Christy, and Julie Miller and husband Charles, their grandchildren, Remington, Ryen, Kylie, Kyla, Rayna, Lillian, Emma, Ty, Tristan, Scott, McKayla, Lexi, Shane, Lilly, and Scarlett, and son Charles Brown (Janice) of Owensboro, their children, Bradley Greenlee, Bridgette Greenlee, and David Greenlee and wife Dawnalee, their grandchildren, Gavin, Jayla, Jayce, KarisArya, Samantha, and Brodey, and a sister, Theresa Davis of Versailles, KY.

Services will be Noon Friday, April 15, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
