Anne Foust Wightman

Anne Foust Wightman, 80, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012. Born in Owensboro, a daughter of the late Wayne and Frances Foust, she was a graduate of Owensboro High School and Florida Southern College, where she was a member and president of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, a sweetheart of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and "Miss Southern". Mrs. Wightman served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church, was a co-founder of the Theatre Workshop of Owensboro, a Girl Scout leader, past-president of the Owensboro Cotillion club, the forerunner of the Junior League of Owensboro, and a board member of Leadership Owensboro. With her husband Martel, she was a performer with Owensboro's world renowned P.U. Band. Anne enjoyed her many friends in Owensboro and at Kentucky Lake where she spent summers with her husband on their houseboat.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Martel Wightman; her daughters, Edie Castlen (Jerry Stewart) and Georgia Coomes (Jimmy), both of Owensboro; her grandchildren, Stacy Allen (Steve), Luke Castlen (Leigh Anne), Wayne Castlen (Laurie), Sally Funkhouser, Kristen Hayden (Paul David), and Jordan Coomes; her great-grandchildren, Duke, Jack, and Clayton Allen, Karter and Kooper Castlen, Lola Beth Castlen, and Parker and Abbi Hayden; her sister, Jane Gilbert (Hugh); her aunt, Ruth Jones, and her cousin, Jimmy Cox (Miriam).

The funeral service for Mrs. Wightman will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Carroll at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Club.
