Anne Martin Walker, 87, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving sons and family at Cedarhurst under the care of Hospice Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. Born on March 29, 1938 in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Barnie and Ora Martin, Anne lived a life full of purpose, creativity, and devotion to those she loved.
A proud graduate of Owensboro High School, Anne earned her Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, and Rank I from Western Kentucky University, where she met her beloved husband, Mickey.
For over 35 years, she shared her love of art in educating children in the Daviess County Public School System, primarily at Burns Middle School, leaving an impact on her students. Even after retiring, her passion for teaching endured as she continued to serve as a substitute teacher for many years.
Anne was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her Sunday School class, Trusting Hearts and formed lifelong friendships.
As a devoted mother to two athletic sons, Marty and Mike, she was their biggest cheerleader, her voice echoing from the stands at their games, which she rarely missed. She continued her support with her grandchildren's sporting events and enjoyed watching them.
Anne was very creative and enjoyed all forms of art. She also cherished antiquing, sharing her treasures and stories at booths across Owensboro.
Golf was another love, and she spent countless joyful days on the fairways of Windridge Country Club alongside Mickey and friends. In her later years, Anne became an avid Bridge player, delighting in weekly games and the camaraderie they brought.
In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Mickey Walker; her twin sister, Alice Martin; her half-brothers, James and Harold Holt; and her dear friend and sister-in-law, Peggy McKeehan.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Marty Walker (Sarah) and Mike Walker (Tammy), both of Owensboro; grandchildren, Matthew Walker (Stephanie), Anna Walker Hamilton (Jarret), Hadley Walker, Myers Walker (Jacey), and Steeley Walker; great-grandchildren, Mills Walker, Remington Walker, and Caroline Hamilton; and nieces, Leesa Winstead of Madisonville and Kelly Bryant of Williamsburg.
The funeral service for Anne will be 2 PM Monday, September 8, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 12 PM until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
