Anna Pauline Ling, 79, formerly of 912 Cedar St., Owensboro, passed away Monday, October 30, 2006 at the Carmel Home. Born December 23, 1926 to the late Lewis and Flora Hagan Ling, she was preceded in death by brothers, Truman, Houston, George, James, Anthony Bub, Sherman, and J.L. Ling. She is survived by sisters, Marie Lucille Puckett, Ruby Ling, Marietta (and Frank) Alvey, and Agnes Muriel (and Damon) Gillim and many nieces and nephews.
Miss Ling was a 1944 graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy and a 1946 graduate of Mount St Joseph Junior College and took classes at Brescia. She retired from Office Equipment after 22 years and 15 years at Murphy Hennessee; was a long time member of St. Stephen Cathedral where she was the church organist for 20 years; was the Eucharistic Minister at Owensboro Medical Health System; and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. After retirement, she volunteered at Covenant House in New York City for 14 months and since 1953 had helped the Jesuit Missions in India where she visited in 1967. Miss Ling was the recipient of the prestigious Simon Rodriquez Award for her work in India. She enjoyed traveling, yard work, and music.
Miss Lings request was to donate her body to Saint Louis University School of Medicine upon her death. A memorial mass will be 7 P.M. Friday, November 3, 2006 at St. Stephen Cathedral followed by a reception in the undercroft of the cathedral. Glenn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mother Theresas Missionaries of Charity or to the Carmelite Sisters at the Carmel Home.
