Anna Laura Barry Helson Goetz

Anna (Anne) Helson Goetz, 82, formerly of Owensboro, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, in Louisville. Anne was born on the family farm near Orlinda, TN, the fourth of nine children to Melvin and Lottie Barry. Anne wed Cleve Helson in 1946 and they made their first home in Louisville, KY. In 1957 they moved their young family to Owensboro, where they bonded with many close friends and the Owensboro community. Cleve passed to the Lord in 1976. Anne married Irvin Goetz in 1979. Irvin passed in 1998. Anne continued to make her home in Owensboro until 2003, when she moved to Louisville near her son, Tim.

Anne was employed at American Cigar from the late 1960's till it closed in the 1970's and enjoyed many Saturday nights at Goldie's in Owensboro. Anne thoroughly enjoyed her family, friends, good food, travel, music, sports, camping, fishing and many other activities. She was a hard working fine Christian lady who will be missed by all who knew her. Anne's family wishes to express gratitude to Anne's many friends and family for enriching her life with love and purpose. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people at Hosparus of Louisville and Regis Woods for their assistance and kindness in Anna's final days.

Survivors include her four children; Ron Helson (Cheryl) of Austin, TX, Gary Helson (Molly) of San Diego, CA, Tim Helson ( Jan) of Louisville, and Deb Holtz (Larry) of Union, KY; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, John R. Barry of Gallatin, TN.

Services will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, and after 10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.glennfuneralhome.com
