Anna Marie Oberst Davis

Anna Marie Oberst Davis, 72, of 9500 Highway 456, Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Ind. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Herman S. and Anna Elizabeth Winkler Oberst. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and had worked at one time at Fleischmann's Distillary, had been a Boys Dorm mother at Brescia, and most recently had worked at Books-A-Million. She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother and loved caring for and spending time with her grandson Daniel. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making new friends and meeting people, reading, watching birds, and was a devout Catholic and an avid U. K. basketball fan. In her younger years, she was a very good athlete and enjoyed various sports. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Davis, Sr. on Oct. 11, 2003, and three brothers, Gerald, Herman, and Marcellus Oberst.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Steitler and husband Mark of Owensboro, two sons, James Richard Davis, Jr. of Cincinnati, Oh. and Michael J. Davis of Owensboro, her grandson, Daniel M. Steitler, and two sisters and a brother, Elizabeth O'Bryan and Rose Clark and husband Al, all of Owensboro, and Cletus Oberst and wife Dee of Dayton, Oh.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial following in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 6:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
