Anna Louise "Sis" Castlen, 93, of Owensboro, passed away May 16, 2018. She was born at home April 3, 1925 to the late Joseph and Anna Fuerst Volk. Anna was a strong and hard-working woman that stayed home and raised seven children. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where she and her husband joined in 1957. Anna enjoyed being outside mowing grass, playing cards with friends and spending time with family.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Castlen and an infant son, Anthony Castlen; sisters, Liz Hagan, Judy Garvin, Jean Rhinerson and brother, Joe Volk.
She is survived by her children, Becky Petri (Fred), Joyce Warren, Mary McBride (Mike), Gerald Castlen (Bonnie), David Castlen (Mary), Larry Castlen (Patsy) and Danny Castlen (Susie); Twenty-Seven Grandchildren, Forty-Five Great-Grandchildren; brothers, Bob Volk (Peggy) and Richard Volk (Mary Alice); sisters, Shirley Volk, Margaret Volk and Agnes Myers and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Buckman officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Pius X Catholic Church or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
