Anna Kathrine Carman (Kay), 97, of Greenfield, Indiana (formally of Owensboro, Kentucky) passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield.
A celebration of life service will take place at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, September 15. Burial will follow in Cloverport Cemetery in Cloverport.
Kay was born in Breckenridge County, Kentucky on August 8, 1929. Kay was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening and quilting. Kay was an active member of Bethabara Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with church friends, her Sunday school class members, and friends in her community. She especially enjoyed her time spent with her quilting group. Kay was known for her cooking skills, especially her Coconut cake she made each year at Christmas. Friends and family visiting her home were always treated to savory meals and delicious desserts. Kay and her husband grew a large vegetable garden each year. All of her grandchildren were practically raised on delicious tomatoes, green beans and corn from their garden. Kay also enjoyed flowers and always had beautiful container arrangements around her home and lawn. Most importantly, Kay had a deep commitment to her Savior Jesus. She faithfully prayed for the needs of others. She was a true servant in meeting those needs. She eagerly anticipated the day she would see her Lord face to face.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, James Owen Carman, her parents, Daniel Boone Dowell and Hattie Jane Dowell, two brothers, Robert Earl Dowell and Orville Mason Dowell, and one sister, Betty Dowell who died at birth.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Carman (Cyndee) of Murray, Kentucky, Gale Carman Failinger (Tom) of Greenfield, Indiana, her grandchildren, Allison Carman Helmig of Hobe Sound, Florida, Clay Carman (Morgan) of Murray, Kentucky, Ben Failinger (Lauren) of Los Angeles, California, Brian Failinger (Jenna) of Aliso Viejo, California, David Failinger (Brianna) of Indianapolis, Indiana, her great grandchildren, Cade Carman Mize, Cooper Carman Mize and Claytyn Helmig of Hobe Sound, Florida, Colt Carman and Casey Carman of Murray, Kentucky, Luke Failinger of Indianapolis, Indiana, Thomas Failinger of Aliso Viejo, California and her brother James Hendrick Dowell of Louisville, Kentucky.
