Anna Elizabeth Alvey, 87, of Owensboro passed away at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 11 at the Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born March 8, 1922 in Ohio County to the late Charles M Gaddis and Mabel Rains Gaddis, she was a member of the Pentecostal Faith and enjoyed reading, puzzles and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bro. Elmer R. Alvey; a daughter, Patsy Alvey Roach; her brother, Charles "Buddy" Gaddis; a sister, Isabelle Gaddis Everly; and two infant siblings.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Gary Wilson of Calhoun; sons and daughter-in-laws, Charles and Ellen Alvey, Bill and Sharon Alvey and Douglas Alvey all of Owensboro, and Tim and Dena Alvey of Jasper, IN; two daughters-in-law, Julia M. Alvey of Chrisney and Patsy M. Sosh of Owensboro; a son-in-law, Wesley B. Roach of Owensboro; a brother-in-law and his wife, Rev. Bobby Alvey and Lavern Alvey of Madisonville; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; three nieces; two nephews; and several cousins and friends.
Services are 12 noon Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Beeney officiating followed by burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday.
