Anna Belle Greenwell Akin, 81, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Wellington Parc. Born in Owensboro December 23, 1924, Mrs. Akin was the daughter of the late Charles and Eloise Cooper Greenwell; was a homemaker; member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church where she had been very active; charter member of Bellevue Baptist Church; and had worked at Hillmans Jewelry and Subletts. She was preceded in death by siblings, Charles Greenwell, Rudy Greenwell, Bobby Greenwell, Vivan Greenwell, Catherine Atherton, and Mary Ada Frey.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles Akin; sons, Alan (and Karen) Akin of Clarksville, IN and John (and Elisabeth) Akin of Georgetown, KY; daughters, Nancy (and Dan) Lanham of Owensboro and Mary Lynne Colvin of Springfield, TN; five grandchildren, Ashley Colvin, Claire Lanham, Wesley Lanham, Logan Lanham, and Alicia Akin; brothers, John Greenwell of Apex, NC and Billy Greenwell of Palmetto, FL; a sister, Beverly Nuckolls of Reidland, KY; and a sister-in-law, Bertha Greenwell of Owensboro.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Glenn Funeral Home with Dr. Greg Huguley officiating followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Tuesday and after 10 A.M. on Wednesday. .
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Lewis Lane Baptist Church or the Alzheimers Association.
