Ann Wilson Whittinghill

April 10, 1931 — January 20, 2009

Ann Wilson Whittinghill, 77, of Owensboro, KY died Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Mrs. Whittinghill was born in Frankfort, KY to the late C. Russell and Elizabeth Marshall Wilson. She graduated from Owensboro High School in 1949 and from Brescia University in 1959; she also attended Virginia Polytechnic University in Blacksburg, VA. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she had been a member of the altar guild and served for one term on the vestry. Mrs. Whittinghill had participated on many civic boards including the Junior League of Owensboro, the Bicentennial Civic Cultural Improvement Commission which adapted municipally owned buildings for use for the arts, and was appointed to the Owensboro Arts Commission. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a great supporter of the arts in the Owensboro community. Mrs. Whittinghill retired from the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer as Food and Society Editor after 43 years.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, T.D. Whittinghill; two sisters, Jane Campbell and her husband William of Fairfax, VA; and Virginia Scully of Birmingham, AL; a sister-in-law; Rebecca W. Danhauer of Owensboro; two nieces, Sally Ann Danhauer of Owensboro, and Dee Dee Moran and her husband Michael, Sr. of Lexington, KY; two great-nephews, Michael Moran, Jr. and his wife Christa of Telluride, CO and Matthew Moran of Lexington, KY; and a great-great niece, Madeline Moran of Lexington, KY.

Services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church. Visitation will be at the church from 11:30 until time of service. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
