Ann Jones Van Winkle, 74, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010 at her home. She was born on October 26, 1935 in Allen Co., Ky. to the late H. P. and Mildred Moore Jones. She was a member of the Durham Springs Baptist Church in Scottsville, Ky. and had been attending First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro. She was a licensed Registered Nurse having graduated from Murray State University and the Owensboro-Daviess Co. School of Nursing in 1956. She worked in the Labor-Delivery Dept. at Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1996 and then worked privately for a number of Owensboro physicians. She enjoyed playing dominoes, reading, and spending time with friends and family especially her grandchildren. She loved being around people and had many friends and enjoyed making them laugh. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Anita Pardue in 2004.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen Nichols and husband Brent and Mary Jo Van Winkle Burton, all of Owensboro and Kathy Margopoulos and husband Bruce of Richmond, VA, a son, Bill Van Winkle and wife Susan of Owensboro, eight grandchildren, Laura Wright and husband Brad of Bowling Green, Sara McGown of Louisville, Benjamin Reed Van Winkle and William Bandy Van Winkle, both of Owensboro, Ben Nichols and wife Amy of Paris, Ky., Christopher and Matthew Margopoulos, both of Richmond, Jack Henry Burton of Owensboro, and a sister, Linda Jones King and husband William E. of Scottsville, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 16, in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be that afternoon at 3:00 P.M. in the Crescent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 8:30 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
