Ann Marie Simmons, 87, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the Carmel Home. She was born July 19, 1923 to the late Charles and Georgia Mattingly Cecil in Daviess County. She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral Catholic Church, and enjoyed played cards and board games.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Simmons in 1993, a daughter, Marilyn Simmons, twin great-granddaughters, Addison and Kathryn Simmons, two brothers, Bernard Cecil and Bobby Cecil, a sister, Sr. George Ann Cecil, and a son-in-law, Gary Kuntson.
Survivors include her sons, Bobby (Kelley) Simmons of Maceo, Jimmy (Kathy) Simmons of Utica, her daughters, Carolyn (John) Stevenson of Owensboro, Yvonne Kuntson of Chapel Hill, NC, and Kay (Jim) Plaisted of Owensboro; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Hugh (Betty) Cecil of Stanley, Paul (Beverly) Cecil of Owensboro, Frankie (Rita) Cecil of Sorgho, and Leon (Missy) Cecil of Tampa, FL, one sister, Mildred (J.C.) Higdon of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be 1:00 PM Friday at St. Stephen Cathedral Catholic Church with burial in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, with prayers at 6:30 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, visitation on Friday will be after 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303.
