Ann Hagan McIntyre, 92, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born August 27, 1932, to the late Robert and Virginia R. Hagan in Whitesville, Kentucky. As a child, she attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church and School before the family moved to Owensboro, where she attended St. Stephen Cathedral and St. Frances Academy.
Mrs. McIntyre retired from General Electric after 37 years of employment.
She had been an active member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church since 1954. Ann was involved in several ministries of the church, including the Bereavement Team, a ministry to Hillcrest Nursing Home, Koinonia Retreats, the annual church picnics, greeting, welcome committee and Parish Council. In 2002 she was the recipient of the Sophia Award. She had a deep love for this church and those who attended. Ann also worked at the Blessed Mother Rectory as housekeeper and cook for the late Fr. Phil Riney and several other priests.
She was a member of Thruston Homemakers, where she served as president and treasurer for many years, and Golden Partners. Ann was also a volunteer at Boulware Mission Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo and Bunco with many friends on a weekly basis, did lots of canning, made ceramics and porcelain dolls, made many beautiful quilts and beginning in 1988, she produced over 300 cross stitches to give to family and friends. She enjoyed receiving and sending greeting cards, Kentucky Wesleyan sports, U.K. Basketball, Green Bay Packers Football and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Ann also treasured the outdoors. She loved flowers, decorating her yard, and spent a good deal of time on her porch feeding the birds and cats. Ann traveled extensively, including Rome, Italy, Hawaii, New York, Florida and most of the states. Many of those trips included family. She also appreciated music, especially country rock, gospel and Elvis Presley. In her recent time at the Hermitage, she was honored to be inducted into the Hermitage Hall of Fame. Ann will be dearly missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McIntyre in 1993; brothers, J.T. Hagan and Joe Hagan; sisters, Mary Brey, Dorothy Aud and Barbara Mattingly; nephew, Bryan Hagan; and special friend, Monty Hancock.
