Ann Byers Hatfield

On Wednesday, June 11, 2008, Ann Byers Hatfield, 71 of 3852 Thresher Street, Owensboro, passed away quietly in her sleep, surrounded by her loved ones. Ann was born on June 29, 1936 in McHenry. Ky. Preceding her in death were her parents, Vera and Stanley Byers and a granddaughter, Kathryn Elizabeth (Katie) Hatfield. She was retired from GMAC, Sears, and American National Insurance, and until recently was an agent with Grey Hurt's Allstate Insurance. Ann was a loving mother, devoted wife and sister, doting grandmother and friend to everyone she met. She was a member of Beaver Dam United Methodist Church and previously attended Kirk Memorial United Methodist. She was an avid fan of all sports and particularly favored the Ky. Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Western Ky Hilltoppers and NASCAR driver, Michael Waltrip. She loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed watching the variety of birds attracted by her beautifully kept yard.

Ann is survived by her husband of 50 years, William David Hatfield, a daughter, Barbara A. Hatfield of Gaithersburg, MD, two sons, David S. Hatfield of Washington D.C. and Miami, FL, and John W. Hatfield of San Francisco, CA; three sisters, Beverly Byers-Pevitts of Kansas City, MO, Aggie Byers of Alexandria, VA, Susan Reagan of Owensboro, one brother, Stanley (Dickie) Byers of Hartford; one grandson, Joshua Hatfield of Gaithersburg, MD, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 3:30 PM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, and after 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
