Ann Shephard Eison, 63, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, April 10, 2026. She was born on December 13, 1962, in Owensboro, to James Baker and George Alice Duke Shephard.
Ann graduated from Apollo High School in Owensboro, Kentucky, going on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Kentucky. While in high school, she was an avid member of the Apollo dance team and while attending University of Kentucky was a sister of the school’s chapter of the Kappa Delta sorority. After graduating she initially followed in her father’s footsteps working in logistics, with companies such as Crowley and Cal Transport. After having her daughter and moving to Florida she pivoted in her career when she began substitute teaching, where she loved working with the children at the school her daughter also attended. Later on, after moving back to Kentucky, she entered into the hospitality industry where she worked in multiple hotels attending to guests’ needs and generally enjoyed making her guests happy. She was also a devoted daughter and mother, even becoming her father’s caregiver for the last two years.
Ann was an avid reader, enjoyed watching movies and listening to music, and was a big animal lover. One of her lifelong favorite movies was Gone with the Wind and she collected many pieces of memorabilia from the film, including her healthy collection of Scarlett O’Hara Christmas tree ornaments. During her life she was able to see some of her favorite musical artists live, including multiple concerts she attended to see Cher and seeing Paul McCartney live in Lexington with her daughter. Ann was also an avid animal lover, preceded in death by her beloved Oscar and survived by her other “daughters”, Derby the dog and Achmed the cat, who are now with equally as loving homes like Ann would have wanted.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Duke Shephard.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Sara Alice “Ali” Eison; her father, James B. Shephard; a brother, Scott (Denise) Shephard; nieces, Payton Shephard Carter and Lindsay Shephard Moon; and a great niece, Adair Roselyn Moon.
A time of gathering of family and friends for Ann will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday May 6, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Memories and condolences for Ann Eison may be shared with the family at www.glenncares.com. In memorial to Ann; donations to the Daviess County Humane Society, or the local animal welfare organization of the mourners, are also encouraged.
