Sister Anita Flaugher, OSU
Maple Mount Sister Anita (Bernard Anita) Flaugher, 98, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died Feb. 5, 2010, at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 80th year of religious life.
A native of Fairfield, she was an educator for 44 years. Sister Anita was a gentle, prayerful woman, who loved teaching young children. She was faithful to her friends and family, and enjoyed working in the rose garden.
Her ministries included St. Anthony, Browns Valley (1936-37), St. Joseph, Owensboro (1948-49), St. William, Knottsville (1949, 1957-62), St. Martin, Rome (1956-57), and St. Sebastian, Calhoun (1964-67). She also ministered elsewhere in the Diocese of Owensboro, the Archdiocese of Louisville, and in Missouri.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Freda Simpson of Bloomfield, nieces and nephews, and the members of her religious community.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mount Saint Joseph, where visitation will begin Sunday at 4 p.m., with a wake service following at 6:30 p.m.
Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, Owensboro, is in charge of arrangements.
