Angela Thomas Thompson

Angela Thomas Thompson, 84, of Owensboro passed Friday, July 8, 2011 at her home. Born July 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Edna Tong Thomas; she was preceded in death by a daughter, June Marie Thompson; a son, Joseph Patrick Thompson; a sister, Margaret Smith; and a brother, Joseph Robert Thomas.

The first third of Angela's life was devoted to educating and forming her children; her mid-life, to helping her children set up housekeeping and assisting when babies were brought home from the hospital; and the last third to daily Mass and Rosary. She was much loved and admired by her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Army of Mary, the Family of Sons and Daughters of Mary, the Oblate Patriots, and a Paulian.

Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Henry Leo Thompson; daughters, Mary Sue (Bill) Kathman of Ft. Mitchell, KY, Dorothy (Rick Carty) Garlough of Ontario, Canada, Theresa (David) Burt of Lexington, Monica (Herb) Blackburn of Cincinnati, Carol (Duncan) Taylor of Lexington, and Lisa (Bernie) Dotsey of Owensboro; sons, Phillip (Landis) Thompson of Henderson, Gary (Donna) Thompson of Frankfort, and Shelby (Mary Ann) Thompson of Owensboro; 33 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Marnel Bernard (Ernestine) Thomas of Owensboro; a sister, Sue (Joe) Riney of Owensboro; and a sister-in-law, Ruthie Thomas of Louisville..

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2011 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Father Bruno Ruel officiating followed by burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-7 p.m. on Sunday with the Rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation also on Monday after 9 a.m. prior to the service. .

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Mass offerings or donations to Owensboro Catholic Schools or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
