Angela Jeanette "Jane" Simpson

Angela Jeanette “Jane” Simpson, 84, of Franklin, KY, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at her home. She was born in Owensboro on September 2, 1941, to the late Virgil and Waltrude Coomes Higdon. Her childhood was spent on the family farm, where she was surrounded by the love of her family. There she learned how to make the very best rolls and biscuits; and she learned the value of hard work and developed a strong faith in her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Jane was a longtime member of Curdsville Baptist Church before moving to Franklin KY and there she became a member of Blackjack Baptist Church.

Jane was a dedicated employee and spent her years in Owensboro working at The Cigar Factory, then the Murphy Miller Chair Factory before becoming a cook at Mt St Joe. Her experience served her well when she became a cook at Franklin Simpson High School from which she retired.

In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her loving husband, L.B. Simpson; sons, Roger Simpson and Amos Simpson; daughter, Darlene Edge; grandchild, John Marshall Simpson; and siblings, J.C. Higdon, Maxine Baldwin, Lena Clement, John Higdon and Joetta Cooper.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Wayne Simpson of Owensboro, Jimmy Simpson (Kathy) of Calhoun, and Tommy Simpson (Gail) of Henderson; daughter, Laura Williams (Bruce) of Franklin; siblings, Sylvester Higdon of Whitesville, Ruth Johnson of Mt. Juliet, TN, Barbara Obermeyer (Mike) of Rockport, IN, and Laura Snider of El Paso, TX; as well as 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Jane will be Noon, Friday, August 14 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with same day visitation from 10 a.m. until 11:30 am. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
