Andrew Butler Colley, Jr., 78, of Owensboro died January 1, 2015. He was born April 12, 1936 in Louisville to the late Andrew B. Colley, MD, and Loy Campbell Colley. He was a founding member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Owensboro retiring from his last service on the Board of Trustees in May 2014.
Andy was known for his compassion, kindness, and gentleness. He had a generous spirit for service that included chauffeuring friends, neighbors, and church members to medical appointments, community activities, and daily errands. His interests were wide-ranging, but his love for sports was unbounded; he recently finished a book on the use of biomechanics in sports performance. His death will be a significant loss for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Mary Colley Alexander (1991.) He is survived by a brother-in-law, Christopher Alexander; nephew, Christopher "Kit" (Willow) Alexander of Chicago, IL; two nieces, Susan Alexander of Bern, Switzerland and Meg (Charles) Johnson of Richmond, VA, and their children, Lucy and Christopher.
Visitation will be Saturday, 3 January at 12:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Owensboro (corner of Cedar and Parrish) with Funeral Service to follow at 1:30 pm. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery at Dixon, KY.
