Amanda Denton Calhoun

July 10, 1972 — June 30, 2013

Amanda Denton Calhoun, 40, of McDaniels, Kentucky passed away on June 30 at Norton Hospital in Louisville after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Owensboro and graduated with honors from Breckenridge County High School. She attended Murray University and graduated with a degree in business from Owensboro Community and Technical College. Amanda spent much of her life working in banking. She worked for First Security, Central Bank and Trust and even helped run a bank on a military base in Germany where her former husband was stationed. His service took Amanda many places, including Florida, Germany and South Carolina. While in Florida she worked at the Shriners International Headquarters. Amanda lived in a rural setting overlooking Rough River Lake and most recently she was employed at Rough River Lodge.

Amanda enjoyed reading, movies, traveling and history. She loved spending time with her niece, nephews and cousins. Amanda also worked with children at the YMCA.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Boyd, in 2013.

She is survived by her parents, Dave and Nancy Estes of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Lee Denton of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Bethany Estes of Owensboro; niece, Aven Rose; nephews, Lennon and Jarrek; many cousins; several aunts and uncles, including Kenny Denton and Linda Tucker who helped raise her; friend and companion, Wayne Henning; and her beloved Pug, Pebbles.

The funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 5 at Glenn funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 and on Friday after 9 AM.
