Althea Payne Lauterwasser, 92, of Philpot, died Thursday, May 26, 2005 at her home. She was a lifelong homemaker and was born May 11, 1913 in Knottsville, KY, to the late Leonard and Mary Cordelia Payne. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. She enjoyed needlework and entertaining her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lauterwasser was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Lauterwasser, a daughter, Patricia Foster and eight siblings.
She is survived by two sons, Fred Lauterwasser of Evansville, IN and Dan (and his wife Ramona) Lauterwasser of Muscatine, IA; a daughter, Sister Catherine Marie Lauterwasser of Philpot; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Sue Lauterwasser Campbell and Martha Daugherty Payne.
Funeral services are 1:30 P.M. Sunday, May 29, 2005 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father Freddie Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Saturday and after 12 Noon on Sunday. Prayers will be said at 6 P.M. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph and the Carmel Home.
