Altha M. Smith

Altha M. Smith, 79, of 418 Reid Road, Owensboro, died Sunday, August 18, 2002 at her home. She was born in Ohio County on June 29, 1923 the daughter of Luke Griffin and Pearl Fuqua Byers. Her husband, Thomas R. Smith, preceded her in death.

She was a member of Crabtree Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed dancing Thursday nights at the RiverPark Center.

Survivors include a son, Leo Smith of Owensboro; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Coann Bermudez and Delores Daffron, both of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at Glenn Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Mark Tong. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2002 and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
