Alma Norfleet Stearsman

March 25, 1919 — February 12, 2005

Alma Geneva "Ginny" Stearsman, 85, of Owensboro died February 12, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born March 25, 1919 in Norfleet, Pulaski County, Kentucky to the late Brad and Ethel Norfleet of Farmer City, Illinois. She graduated from Moore Township High School in Farmer City, Illinois in 1938 and from the Minneapolis School of Medical Technology in 1947. She married Delbert N. Stearsman March 25, 1951 at First Christian Church, Madisonville, Kentucky. Mrs. Stearsman was a member of the Century Christian Church and the American Medical Technologists Society. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan; and loved her pets, home, family and her extended family at Lincoln Clinical Lab. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Millie Norfleet Cleek and Edith Norfleet (as an infant).

Surviving is her husband, Delbert N. Stearsman; two sons, Dr. Bradley N. Stearsman and his wife, Debra (Bennett) of Owensboro, and Kelly J. Stearsman and his wife Andrea (Moralas) of Sugarland, TX.; a grandson, Derek Stearsman of Owensboro; and step-grandchildren, Sammy and Wayne Moralas of Sugarland, TX., Emily Gerlach of Owensboro, Maria Gerlach of Tell City, IN, and Eli Gerlach of Cannelton, IN; step-great-grandchildren, Kaylee Basham of Tell City, and Chris and Timmy Moralas of Sugarland, TX; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stearsman worked as a Med Tech at Jenny Stewart Hospital in Hopkinsville, KY, Lincoln memorial Hospital in Lincoln, IL, and Madisonville Hospital in Madisonville, KY. She moved to Owensboro in October 1958 to Mercy Hospital and managed Mayfair Lab and Lincoln Clinical Lab. She retired in 1999.

Funeral services are 10 A.M. Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Century Christian Church with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Monday, February 14, 2005 and after 9 A.M. Tuesday at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
