Allen E. Payne

Allen E. Payne, 63, of Owensboro, passed away on April 3, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess County to Bernard J. and Lula Mae Payne.

Allen was a 1966 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School. Following high school he served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

After more than 30 years of service, Allen retired from Aleris Aluminum where he had worked as a crane operator.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and was an avid U.K. Basketball fan.

Allen was preceded in death by his father, Bernard J. Payne.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Payne, a son, Tim Payne of Owensboro; his mother, Lula Mae Payne of Owensboro; a grandson, Dustin Payne; sisters, Sheila Abel (Larry) of Owensboro, Cindy Drake of Owensboro, Linda Stevens of Georgetown, KY and Patty Hancock of Beaver Dam, KY; brothers, Tom Payne (Carol) of Owensboro, Steve Payne of Hawesville and Paul Payne of Lexington, KY; many nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, April 7, 10:00 AM at St. Pius Catholic Church. Fr. Julian Ibemere will officiate. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 - 8 PM with prayers at 5:00 PM and on Saturday after 9:00 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pius Catholic Church General Fund.
