Aline Fischer Garrett, 93, of Owensboro, passed away July 2, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born in Daviess County, on August 18, 1920, to the late Martin and Sadie Fischer. Aline was an original member of St. Pius X Church that was built in 1957, where she sang and then later directed the choir. She attended faithfully until she was moved to her residence at the Carmel Home. Aline liked music and to travel with her late husband, Hilary. She was also an accomplished oil painter and was a member of the Moose Club where she and Hilary spent many nights dancing. Aline had the opportunity to work in various places, but retired from Brescia University after 13 years of service in the Registrar's Office.
Aline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hilary Edward Garrett; sister, Marie Clark, and brother, Max Fischer.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda M. Dixon (Steve) of Owensboro; son, Patrick J. Garrett (Debbie) of Arlington Heights, IL; and grandchildren Casey Dixon of Louisville, Christy Dixon of Denver, CO, Ryan Garrett, and Ashley Garrett, both of Arlington Heights, IL.
Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, July 4th, at St, Pius X Church with Fr. Joe Mills officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 7:00 PM. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Carmel Home in Aline's name.
