Alicia Marie Wright

January 10, 1931 — May 9, 2007

Alicia Marie (Cecil) Wright, 76, of 4761 McIntire Crossing died May 9, 2007. Mrs. Wright was born in West Louisville, KY to the late Oliver and Loretta Murphy Cecil. She was a member of St. Anthonys church. Since 1989, when her first defibrillator was implanted, she chose to fight for bonus time. Five defibrillators later, after getting her ragdoll cat, Smudge, she crossed her final wish off her list which was to visit her youngest daughters dream home in California. Lish or Lisha was the person who taught her children that fun could be created from anything from a deck of cards to a cardboard box. She taught them that homemade gifts were the best gifts, that a great meal can be created from next to nothing and one persons weeds can be another persons favorite flower. She loved adventure and would wake her kids for a surprise snow walk or a skate on a frozen pond illuminated by headlights and a warm fire. She taught us all that family is the greatest treasure. She always made time to walk in the moonlight and admire the rainbows of her life and she truly cherished and celebrated her friends and family. She was a forward thinker active in the Catholic community, was a regular reader, Eucharistic minister, and participated in many Cursillos. Lish loved to travel and told her children that, if she were going to be in pain anyway, shed endure it more easily having a sunrise on a mountain or ocean waves for her scenery. She loved reading (and passing on) great books and was a certified ''card person'' who never failed to remember a birthday or anniversary. Lish also was an avid UK basketball fan and enjoyed going fishing as often as she could. She touched many hearts and lives with her gentle strength, unshakeable faith and her joy of living. She is survived by William L.Bill Wright, her loving husband of 58 years and their 6 children and spouses; Elaine (Gary) Strain, Nancy (Frank) Stadtlander, Bill (Ruby Taflinger) Wright Jr., Larry (Cathy) Wright, Jeff Wright, Jennifer (Paul) Godward; 6 grandchildren Christina and Andy Schoch, Kendall and Greg Wright, Stephanie and Marilyn Wright; grand daughter-in-law Zoe Strain and 1 great granddaughter, Emma Strain. 3 sisters; Polly (Jake) Leibfried, Jean Keller and Margaret Oberst and 1 brother; Louis (Liz) Cecil. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Wade Strain Nov 1, 2005; 2 brothers, Clem Cecil Aug 17,2004, Dick Cecil Aug 7, 1994; 2 sisters, Teresa Ling Jan 22, 1999 and Toby Matthews on Aug 29, 2002. Visitation will be held from 12-7 p.m. with prayers from 7-8 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home on Sunday, May 20 followed by a memorial mass at St Anthonys Church in Utica, KY on Monday, May 21 at 10 a.m.
