Alicia Gillians, 87, of Owensboro, died January 30, 2015. She was born September 1, 1927 in Los Angeles, California to the late Jose and Rosa Acosta Gutierrez. Alicia was retired from the Army after 27 years as a Master Sergeant and also an All Army Tennis Professional. She was of the Baptist faith. Alicia enjoyed making candy and writing letters to her penpals.
Alicia was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and Robert Gutierrez; sister, Carmen Walsh; and stepson, Joseph Gillians.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Ernest Gillians; stepdaughters, Patty Cervelle of Seattle, Washington and Lisa Sigar of Owensboro; stepson, Jerry Gillians of Ferndale, Washington; 7 step grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; and brother, Jose Gutierrez (Sarah) of Whittier, California.
Service will be 2:00pm Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 Monday and from 10:00 until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Food Pantry of Owensboro, 1220 Center Street Owensboro, KY 42301.
