Alice Hawes Levine

Alice Hawes Levine, 83, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky. The Daviess County native was born January 20, 1943, to the late Holloway and Lora Hawes. Alice received a degree in Elementary Education from Peabody Teacher’s College and began a teaching career early in life. She was an avid reader and bibliophile with an extensive book collection that she loved sharing with others. Alice loved and doted upon her dogs. She had a love for animals and the beauty in nature. Alice was outgoing and friendly, having no difficulty chatting up strangers and making new friends throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Alice was also preceded in death by her first husband, Stephen Mark Lyons in 1972, and her husband of over 30 years, Henry Joseph “Joe” Levine in 2021.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Patsy Hawes Gordon (Bobby); brother, George Hawes (Cindy); nieces and nephews, Julie Hawes Gordon, Brian Hawes (Erin), Catherine Gordon Crabtree (Brandon), Rachel Gordon Lester (Dan), and Robert Gordon (Sarah Lochridge).

The funeral service for Alice Levine will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 30th at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with same day visitation from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
