Alice Emogene Jones Bowlds, 97, of Owensboro went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 17,2024 while resting peacefully at Carmel Home surrounded by family. She was born in Daviess County on November 20, 1926 to the late Ordie C. Jones and Veolia Rose Coomes Jones.
Emogene is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph William (J.W.) Bowlds; brothers, Cecil, Gerald, Wilbur and Junius Jones; and sisters, Aline Wethington Keller and Margaret Millay.
Emogene was formerly a member of St. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. She had a heart for the Passionist Nuns and served them in construction and painting projects at their Whitesville facility. Mrs. Bowlds managed the Owensboro Catholic Cemeteries office for 30 years. Emogene and J.W. moved to Haines City, Florida after retirement to be near their only child and his family. There she played golf into her eighties, enjoyed playing cards with friends and spent time with family.
Emogene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Ronald Bowlds and Paula. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Jean Phillips, Penny Kibler (Bryon) and Joseph Ronald Bowlds,II (Jennifer), all of Florida. She was blessed with seven great grandchildren, Ryan (Samantha) Tindall, Megan Watson, Joshua (Nicole) Phillips, Brittany Kibler, Tyler Bowlds, Kaylee Kibler and Alyssa Bowlds; six great-great grandchildren, Brayden and Taylor, Emma and Lilly, Paxton, Adalee and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be at 9:30 AM, Monday, July 22 Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Ray Clark officiating. Entombment will be at St. Ann’s Chapel Mausoleum in Resurrection Cemetery Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM, with prayers at 6:00 PM, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and Monday from 9:00 AM until time of Mass at Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church.
