Alice Jean Bristow Adelman

Alice Jean Adelman, 91 , of Owensboro, joined her heavenly father on September 28, 2013 at Twin Rivers Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was born to the late James and Edwina Bristow on May 20, 1922 in Owensboro. Alice graduated from OHS in 1940 where she was a member of the Rose Curtain Players. She married J.G. Adelman in 1941 and they were married 58 years until his passing in 1999. Alice also was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee, in 2000.

She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Owensboro. Alice was a woman of great faith and was active in the Coupes Class, taught Sunday school, served on the Church Council and was a founding member of the Santa Claus Club at Zion. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's of Owensboro and retired form Sears in 1981 after 25 years of service.

Surviving are her son, Jan (Karen) Adelman of Kingwood, TX; daughters, Karen Moeller of Owensboro and Suzanne (Greg) Oost of Nome, AK; daughter-in-law, Pam Adelman of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at Zion United Church of Christ, 629 Allen Street in Owensboro at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. A reception will follow immediately in the church Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the American Lung Association (www.lung.org) or the Zion United Church of Christ Memorial Fund. Alice will be interred next to her husband in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
