Alfred L. Mahler, 81, of Hammond In, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012. He retired after 30 years from Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He spent his spare time working on cars, watching wrestling, and his Chicago Cubs. He served in the U.S. Army.
His wife, Nora "Faye" Mahler preceded him in death in March 2011 as well as his parents, Ed and Mary Wedding, twin brother, Albert, sister in law, Oma Mahler, grandsons, Timmy Taylor and Curtis Mahler, and great-grandson, Mar'Kee Slaton.
Surviving are his children, Nancy (Donald) Taylor, Gayle Gibson, Rodger (Terri Hayes) Mahler, Connie (Robert) McGahee, Bonnie (Tom) Parrish, Martha Slayton, and Melissa Mahler, a brother, James (Cindy) Wedding, brother in law, Luther (Mary Ann) Hamilton, 21 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Bells Run Cemetery.Online condolences ma ybe expressed at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
