Alberta Gilles Hagan

Alberta Gilles Thompson Hagan, 91, of Owensboro passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Kindred Hillcrest Center. She was born on the family farm in Western Daviess County to the late Frank and Rosa Gilles.

Alberta retired from GE after 32 years of service and was a longtime member of Immaculate Catholic Church. During her retirement years she volunteered at the hospital. She enjoyed traveling to different places with her friends on ''Senior Citizens'' tours. Alberta enjoyed visiting the ''old homeplace'' and going through downtown reminiscing about the good ole days when Second Street was booming. She was in a Bunco group for many years with several longtime friends and enjoyed playing bingo. Alberta also loved taking care of her grandchildren and going on family vacations to Florida.

In 1946 Alberta married Bill Thompson who passed away in 1975. In 1988 she married James E. Hagan who passed away in 1992.
She was also preceded in death by sons, Philip W. Thompson in 2005 (his wife Gina passed away in 2003) and a twin son, Larry W. Thompson, who died soon after birth; a great granddaughter, Bailey Thompson; siblings, Catherine Catanzaro, James Gilles, Anna Ruth Rudy, Rose L. Carrico, John Gilles, Mary Rhinerson and Paul Gilles; and a son-in-law, Jerry Payne in 2009.

Mrs. Hagan is survived by daughters, Sandy Thompson and Becky Payne; son, Bill Thompson (Debbie), all of Owensboro; grandchildren, Stacy Myers, Kevin Thompson, Leigh Ann Weisser, Sara Payne, Andy Thompson and Katie Stallings; 2 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren;1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass will be at 1 PM on Saturday, December 14 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mater Delorosa Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM on Friday and after 10 AM on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
