Albert Alton Baughn

July 1, 1923 — June 21, 2017

Albert Alton Baughn, 93, of Utica, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late Remus Albert and Mary Althea Austin Baughn.

Mr. Baughn was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was aboard the USS Nevada during Pearl Harbor and was a part of the invasion at Normandy on D-Day.

Alton retired from General Electric in 1985 after more than thirty years of service as an electronic technician. He attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Vyerl Jean Bassett Baughn in 2016, sisters, Laura Ellen Baughn and Marjorie Lois Phinney.

He is survived by sons, Franklin A. Baughn and Michael A. Baughn and his wife, Melody, both of Calhoun; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Tiger.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 24 at Calhoun Cemetery in Calhoun, Kentucky.
