Mr. Alben Lewis Al Roark, 78, of Owensboro, died Friday, June 10, 2005, at home. He was born March 31, 1927 to the late Rufus C. and Ferrell Gossett Roark in Muhlenberg County. A member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he had been a member of the Mastermens Sunday School Class for several years. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and he enjoyed watching UK and attending Kentucky Wesleyan basketball games. Al enjoyed reading and loved his family and being light hearted about life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Rena Strader Roark; one son, Terry Roark and his wife, Mary Lee of Owensboro; two daughters, Patricia Cox and her husband, Larry of Owensboro, Kathleen Hardin and her husband, Robert F. of Franklin, TN; seven grandchildren, Carol Ware and her husband, Bill, Caryn Cox, John Cox, Kevin and Angela Roark, Robert Allen Hardin and Rachel Hardin; two great-grandchildren, Lexie and Ashley Ware.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Monday at Glenn Funeral Home with entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be 2:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday and after 9:30 AM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Association, 726 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY, 42301.
