Alan J. Baird, 68, of Daviess County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 4, 2025. He was born on May 31, 1957, to the late Rondal Eugene and Ruby Shelton Baird, where he spent his life rooted in family, friendship, and the great outdoors.
Alan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Connie Baird. With her, he shared a deep and enduring love. A man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures, Alan loved to spend his time fishing, exploring the woods, and sharing quiet moments outdoors with his brother Tim. Together, the two shared countless adventures, from concerts and restaurants to trips to Florida. Alan also enjoyed his “sibling trips” to Alabama and Rough River with siblings Sherry and Tim.
Alan worked for Scott Baird Plumbing, where he served as an assistant, earning the respect and friendship of all who worked alongside him. He also was known for his ability to create something out of an idea. If it was needed, you could tell him what it was and sit back and watch Alan go to work building your idea. Known for his generosity, Alan would give anything, even everything, to help someone in need. His kindness was genuine, and he made sure those around him always felt valued and appreciated.
He could often be found at Kim’s Diner, his favorite local spot, where he enjoyed good food, familiar faces, and easy conversation. When not there, he loved sitting on his porch, soaking in the peace of the day.
Above all, Alan was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. His family was his heart, and his legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will live on through them.
He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Nelda Baird Harpe.
Alan is survived by his daughters, Haylea Baird, and Taylor (Josh) Cooper; grandchildren, Oakleigh, Jarvis and John Beckett; siblings, Tim (Cyndy) Baird, Sherry (Richard) Ijames, and Todd (Joanna) Roberts and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Kim’s Diner - Christmas Wish Bike Drive.
