Glen Alan Adkins, 53, of Sorgho passed away March 28, 2016 at his home under the care of Hospice of W. Kentucky. He was born September 8, 1962 in Louisville to Rodna and Mildred June Rust Adkins. Alan was an extraordinary machinist by trade and was known for his custom machine work. He worked at GE for over 22 years before becoming a maintenance supervisor at Aleris for 5 years. His expertise in machining led him into his other passion…building and showing trucks where he placed in the top 25 at the Stylin' Concepts competition in 1995 while being featured in seven different magazines. His passion also led him to build from the ground up and compete in the R/Rock Series rock crawling competition where in 2005 he won the championship in points.
Survivors include his wife, Liz Adkins; son, Barry Adkins; daughter, Rachel Adkins both of Owensboro; brother, Wade Adkins and wife Barb of Daviess County; sisters, Sharon Thurman and husband Kelly, Kathy Adkins and John, and Donna Ellis all of McLean County; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
