Agnes Marie Sauer

April 30, 1922 — June 2, 2013

Agnes Marie Sauer, 91, of Owensboro passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Wellington Parc. She was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to the late William Taft and Ora Price Gamble.

As a young lady during WW II, Agnes helped the war effort by working in a munitions plant in Nashville, Tennessee. She went on to work at General Electric here in Owensboro and then spent many years working as the bookkeeper for the family business, M & P Auto Parts.

She was a former member of Seven Hills Baptist Church and had attended Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Agnes enjoyed word search and jig saw puzzles, knitting and bird watching. She was also a great cook.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, E. Paul Sauer in 1993; a daughter, Betty Jean "BeGe" Sauer Robinson; a grandson, James Michael Smith; a sister, Opal Davenport; and brothers, Raymond Edward Gamble and Paul Gamble.

She is survived by daughters, Peggy Sauer Williams (Tom) of Owensboro and Mary Lou "Ma Lou" Smith of Alabama; the second love of her life, D.J. Clark of Owensboro; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Louise Gamble Nixon of Tennessee; brothers Douglas Gamble (Joanne) of Michigan and John Davis of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at Noon on Tuesday, June 4 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Dr. James Wedding and Dr. T.A. Prickett will officiate. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 - 7 PM and on Tuesday after 10 AM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Stephens Chapter of St. Vincent DePaul.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Wellington Parc for the loving care provided to Agnes. They would also like to thank Hospice of Western Kentucky for their dedicated care.
