Agnes Mae Johnson Hester, 88, of Owensboro went home to be with Jesus, Sunday, October 10, 2004. She was born February 7, 1916 in St. Lawrence, the daughter of the late Francis Titus and Patronilla (Speak) Johnson. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was a member of the Ministry of Praise and the Over 50 Club. She retired from General Electric in 1977. Mae was a devoted sister and a loving aunt. She enjoyed dancing, playing bunco, working in her yard, and being with her family. Mae was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Joe Hester on June 2, 1984 and an infant daughter, Marcella Louise on October 6, 1938. Two brothers, Wilban Johnson and Herbert Johnson and three sisters, Edwina Sis Payne, Lucille Schweikharth and Lilly Horton, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two brothers and their wives, F.T.and Maxine Johnson and Harold and Barbara Johnson of Owensboro; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Cecilia Hawkins, Mildred Smith, and Margie and Jack Clark all of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 A.M Thursday, October 14, 2004 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m On Wednesday and after 8:30 A.M. on Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
